Tom Marshall’s new album, ‘To Catch A Falling Star’, will be out on the 25th of July, 2025, a beautiful and weathered album with ten songs that will take you through a stunning musical journey. It’s the lost album from Tom Marshall, which was written in the 1970s and went unreleased, but now it has been restored and will be available to all of us to give it the love it deserves.
Tom Marshall is based in Bromley, Spain, and is an avid performer and a seasoned professional in the music industry. He has played for several well known bands, like Tony Rivers and the Castaways, Harmony Grass, Sparrow, M Squad, and Liquid Gold, Having worked as an arranger and a touring musician, in the last fifty years, he has worked with multiple accomplished artists, which is well captured in his book, Catch A Falling Star, the same name as his album.
‘Catch A Falling Star’, his album, came to be in the early 1970s, when he worked as a musician in the Middle East, playing in resorts and hotels in the evenings. The songs in his album draw influence from genres like classic rock, and the writing is similar to pop writing from the 1960s and 1970s. The album includes ten songs, namely, ‘Together’, ‘The Hill’, ‘Miracle Friend’, ‘Blue Train’, ‘A Life o Leave Home For’, ‘Cloak And Dagger Maker’, ‘Covered In Sunshine and Dust’, ‘Twenty Pieces of Silver’, ‘Deadly Nightshade’, and ‘Breakdown’. Each track is beautiful in its own way, bringing a timeless and nostalgic air with soft vocals, jangling guitars, and hints of piano melodies.
‘Together’ is the first track in the album, and sets the tone of the album by starting with a beautiful guitar melody. It’s a song that unites people together, by bringing a great deal of empathy. The production is minimalistic, and the vocals are heartful and soulful, and the lyrics are sweet and feels like they were written from the heart of a person who loves people and humanity.
‘The Hill’ follows right after, another track that holds a story which will keep you hooked from the beginning till the end. With a production that feels like it’s shimmering, the track holds a message wrapped delicately with a metaphor.
‘A Life To Leave Home For’, starts slower than the rest of the tracks, but it deeply emotional, talking about the personal journey of someone who has lived a nomadic life, yet looks for comfort. The song has longing, guilt, and is beautifully self reflective with lyrics that are nothing less than poetry.
All the songs in the track tell you a story. All the songs provide company for you to singalong and self-reflect and spend some time alone with yourself, thinking about how your life has played out and how it might play out.
The album, ‘To Catch A Falling Star’ would be available both on CD and via streaming services, from the 25th of July, 2025.
