Hailing from Bloomington, Indiana, Twice Dark is the musical brainchild of Josh Kreuzman. Twice Dark releases his latest single “Telekinetic”, a neo-gothic song that exudes the ambience of 80s goth music combined with dark wave and electronic synth music. The song opens with a disco drum roll with a synth melody, followed by the vocals jumping in. A simple composition with 80s synth sound effects layered above the faded translucent vocals that take the listener to another dimension. The synth notes that play along with the vocals outline the melody and it gives the song a retro feel. Twice Dark delivers a surreal dimension for his listeners to immerse themselves in and adds the soul of goth music and the melancholy of dark wave. “Telekinetic” is a trip back to the 80s synth music scene.

The song follows a narrative that explores the theme of facing one’s fear and making things happen. He also draws inspiration from magical realism to create a dreamy atmosphere with his poetic lyrics and transient soundscape. The flavour of darkwave also seems to be incorporated to bring about a subtle pinch of hypnosis and sorrow, seducing the listeners. The pulsating rhythm carries the melody as the chorus breaks out into an uplifting resolve. The production is smooth and immersive as the elements blend together bringing a textured and dense sound. Twice Dark is releasing a full album in 2025 and “Telekinetic” seems to be a taste of what is to come.
