Slide into something fancy and get ready for a classy, bluesy date night with William Odell Hughes’s ‘Loving You Was Easy – Remix’

This slick, silky smooth disco-soul opus flows on funky modern electronic beats and is led of course by William’s smooth nostalgic vocals. Beneath its groovy surface is the touching tale of heartbreak, desperation, and finding a way back to yourself. Aptly, the track is titled in the past sense, indicating the longing and seeking for that time when loving felt easier and lighter.

Back in the 80s, he ran into jazz pianist Pamela Wise one day on a bus on the East Side, which led them to forge a collaboration that launched his music career as singer singer-songwriter. Now, they’ve just launched William’s debut album, ‘What’s Your Genre’ while also injecting freshness into some of his earlier works.

Loving You Was Easy’ (Remix) is as smooth as it gets. It may appear to be a love song, but its more a longing for such a love that is expressed through his soulful vocals. Through remixing, the track was sped up, given backing vocals, and a more driving disco sound that’s irresistibly groovy. If there ever was a track that suitably embodies that disco soul genre, its this one.

From its first notes, it exudes class but also expresses a deep vulnerability and longing. William’s vocals ache with pain of remembering someone who it felt so easy to love and be with. The instrumentation is simple, charming and effective, giving that right balance of groove and lightness to enable his voice to shine.

What makes this all the more special is the music video for ‘William Odell Hughes – Loving You Was Easy – Remix‘ that has him grooving and performing alongside a very expressive puppet cast. Its a must see!
