YDV, also known as Your Desire’s Vault is a music producer based out of the Bay Area, USA. He has been releasing music consistently since 2019 and built up an extensive discography of Singles and Eps. His work is genre-blending and includes in its ambit Hip-hop, Pop, Rap and EDM. The independent artist takes this trait forward in his latest single “Where I stay”.

The synth that starts the track off sets a smooth ambience and has a catchy riff that makes its presence felt throughout the single. This, along with the clappy afro-beat esque percussion towards the end of the track that makes a listener want to dance were my favourite sonic elements on the song.

The vocal performance by YDV is a prominent part of the track and I personally enjoyed the way his delivery taps into both pop and rap at once. His flow is diverse and it is evident from his delivery that he is truly in his element. The effects used on his vocals only enhances the sonic impact the track intends to create.

The lyrical themes explored on “Where I stay” lean much more towards ideas explored in the contemporary rap landscape. He calls anyone who has a problem with him to meet him eye to eye and face him directly by coming to “Where I Stay”. Sprinkled with bars about material wealth and flexing worldly pleasure, the words remain consistent to its genre. The songwriting on the bridge unexpectedly explores regret and loneliness and this display of vulnerability is more than welcome!

Despite its length, the track’s capacity to explore multiple genres is commendable! Check out “Where I Stay” by YDV here:
