Raised in the spectacular nature and melancholy fog of Borgarfjörður eystra, Aldís Fjóla’s music is informed by the elemental mystique. Her blues rock takes us right back to the Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin era, its lush psychedelics pouring over us. This single, Wasted, is taken from Aldís Fjóla ’s EP, Pipedreams. The EP is the culmination of Aldís Fjóla’s musical personality with its moorish grunge, dark vocals, and surmounting melodrama. Like all of her releases, the EP features the talent of musician, sound engineer, and grunge rock veteran, Stefán Örn Gunnlaugsson.
Wasted opens the EP with its stubborn railroading grunge riffs. The grinding warmth of the dark machination becomes a bedrock of inimitable texture. It is washed with the enigma in Aldís’s emphatic vocals. Her mercurial flow layers the soundscape with spontaneous and unexpected emotion. The underlying tragic sentiment is brought out by the haunting violin interlude before being overwhelmed by the grunge blocks yet again.
The artist took up singing and performing when she was ten years old. Soon, she began writing with a zealous passion, her compositions driven by angst and a restless mind. These elements form crucial components of her music even today. Aldís debuted in 2018 with her single, SLIP AWAY and has since released a catalog of mind-bending and obsidian grunge rock.
The track is available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music!
