Classtronaut is a cerebral alt rock band. They have a very thoughtful ethos when it comes to creativity. Which they then slowly extrapolate into soft psychedelia with vivid colors and vibrant feelings. When you listen to their music, you’ll find that the 70s and 80s styles and aesthetics are predominantly featured. It carries retro synths alongside melodic rock and spectacular visual tangents. Their latest release is ‘Songs from Hospital Rooms’, a three-track EP that is reminiscent of the elegant warps of Pond and Tame Impala.

Taken from this collection is ‘Nightshift’, the introductory track that captures much of the EP’s melancholy. It sets out slow oozing frames of loneliness and contemplations. The rhythm is deliberately dilated to create a sense of stopped time, of boredom, of forming ennui. But from within this mundanity, springs of colors and consciousness rise. Spiralling, spangling, dazzling wave patterns form. Ambience as vibrant and expansive as sunset skies spread out. And through them, a progressive dynamism develops, so spectacular, euphoric and anthemic like love itself. It’s quite wonderful. Listen Now!

The track is available for streaming on popular sites like Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music!
