Luke Frees is back with another double single, “Honeycomb Hotel” and “Hang Onto Yr Youth”. Like most of his double releases, the two songs are imbibed with diverse sonic personalities. With the former taking on a retro rock-pop flavor, its vibrancy is balanced out by the latter’s dreamy acoustics. The Chicago-based singer-songwriter and producer is known for his musical theatrics and genre-fluid compositions. His euphonic coutures are specifically stylized to match his idiosyncratic themes and concepts. Always a pleasure! And this is reinforced yet again by this latest release.

“Honeycomb Hotel” is built on shiny retro riffs, its dated influence amplified by silver beats and funky grooves. Luke’s vocals travel back with the instruments, drenched in the nostalgic mystique of the theme. He presents the hotel as a timeless outland that suspends reality. “Hang Onto Yr Youth” is a rainy day song, wet with melancholy. Carrying on through the glinting acoustic strings, the artist’s smooth baritones reminisce the past in the light of philosophical adages. Its tone is that of a resigned old man, preaching his regret of having lost his youth.

The track is available for streaming on popular sites like Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music!
