Blending the artistry of modern classical music with blues rock, Marta Per carves out a unique place for herself in the musical world. The London-based singer-songwriter, artist, and multi-instrumentalist embeds reflective and observational lyricism in dark emotional clouds to produce astounding enclaves of perspectives. The Run is taken from Marta Per ‘s debut EP, Fragments and Fingerprints. The four track EP, as the title suggests, is a layered melancholic portrait, presented in four parts.
Drawing from styles like Rock, Pop, and Jazz, Marta’s soundscapes are usually contained with diverse styles intuitively stitched together. Like in her track, The Run, she loops acoustic piano ripples with groovy basslines and builds dimension with echoing beats. And the haunted hollowness in her vocals beautifully clarifies the theme. Using it as a headline, she helps us journey the evolving soundscape.
Her transitions are seamless. A shoegaze moment connects the helpless melancholy of the acoustic frame to the raging despondent of the rock wave. Marta’s portrayal of grief is transfixing, with blooming guitar solos and sparkling piano ensembles. Blended with the surging emotions in her vocals, The Run lays out its sentiment in fragments.
The track is available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music!
