Mercurius is a melodic rock band whose compositions shimmer with alternative elements. The father-son duo have devoted themselves to a progressive style, one that draws from classic influences but develops with novel and unique sensibilities. It’s a pastiche of sorts, never one thing but a pool of everything that inspires them. Their latest release is ‘Rifle’, a very stark composition, one that holds strong on the melody, the riffs and the vocals. It’s a very present soundscape, in that it consumes the listener, immersing them in deep moments of evocation.

The guitar work is especially spectacular. Played with a skilled and intricate hand, it dances with Paul’s joy of experimental play. Strong wiry riffs and meaty basslines phase into looping groove cycles. It is mysterious and charismatic, exuding originality. And it perfectly matches James’ mercurial vocal sentiments, that dive at thematic momentums and goes with it. It is such a rich soundscape. That’s the perfect adjective for it. The theme is just given so many progressing dimensions that it fills you up in the best way. Listen Now!
