“Time Travel” featuring prominent Mexican rapper Yung Dupe is the latest single by California based artist Love Ghost. The vocal performance of Love Ghost on the track is reminiscent of Emotive Hardcore from the mid-2000s and his Soundcloud influence is evidently displayed in his vocal inflections in this new single.

“And when wake up all alone and have no one to answer to, what do you call that? Loneliness or freedom?” is a dense line to start a track with which feels heavier because it is echoed out and layered on top of keys that have a haunting sense of urgency. In terms of its elements, the track is uncomplicated with only the vocals by Love Ghost, echoes, percussion and oscillating synths forming its foundations. The keys on the track bring to it its characteristic intensity with the percussion kept consistent without much variation. The pre-chorus has a luminescent quality to it and the layering of screaming and subdued vocals before Yung Dupe takes the mic serves as the best set up for his verse.

Yung Dupe’s performance is amazing on this track. He keeps rhythm without having to spit out words really quickly to prove his rapping abilities. He changes up his flow frequently enough to avoid monotony and the instrumentation on the track complement his verse seamlessly. There is a supernatural element that is explored on the track both lyrically with phrases like “Creeping up” and “Darkest Hour” and visually as evident in the cover art, which I thought the production reflected accurately.

If you want an eclectic mix of sound influenced by Soundcloud and Emo music with the absolute head-bop of a verse by Yung Dupe, I suggest giving “Time Travel” by Love Ghost a ear!
