Tori Martin is a musician from Florida, Texas who has been releasing music since 2015 and has in the process built up an extensive discography of singles, EP and an album. As a young singer she brings authenticity and maturity to her performances and places emphasis on embodying an entertainer. Her latest single “Lost in the Country” is an ode to the Country and her formative life experiences in it.

Tori Martin has an innocent yet strong voice that she uses extremely well. She displays range by using country inflections, robust energy and teasing spoken word when needed. Her vocal performance takes centre stage and remains the highlight of the track.

The single has an extremely groovy guitar riff and the percussion is bass-heavy and dominant. The instrumentation is energetic and feels rock adjacent with country elements. I thought that the back-up vocals were used sparsely but effectively, especially towards the end of the track when they chant “Get Lost in the Country” repeatedly.

Lyrically the track is inundated with references to the Country side and feels like an homage to its beauty. From being off the grid to hounds and trucks, from pies and honey to suckles and buckles and from Moonshine, Yeehaw to Texas exes the songwriting is descriptive and narrates what makes Country what it is. The call to get “Lost in the Country”, its blue skies and red dirt is musical and enticing!
