Vonnegut Hardware are a classic indie rock band. Hailing from Indianapolis, it was founded by songwriter Jim Rawlinson and became a full band in 2020. They stick to the basics and nurture them with vibrant texture, interesting themes, and a vibe that you’ll want to write home about. Very turn of the century aesthetics that ring with indie rock the way it came about at its inception.
The band has just released their self-titled EP, a five track queue that ring with gradients of rock including surf rock, pop rock, mellow garage accents, and some modern blues rock manifestations, all cloaked in a signature Vonnegut fuzz that infuses a sedating daze in the listener.
Their 2023 singles, Fantasyland and Apocalypse Blues teased this release. From their imaginative universes of rock music, energy, visuals, and sonic concepts, a refreshing novelty emerged. References to The Strokes, Arcade Fire, and Arctic Monkeys were paired with original ideas and a will to play that instantly made them stand apart from the noise, leaving the listeners wanting for more. This EP is everything and more of what was promised in the teasers. Listen Now!
