Manuka is an acoustic singer-songwriter from Leeds, West Yorkshire. The artist brings her Indian roots and classical music influences to her acoustic ruminations. And in doing this, she reconciles the two distinct branches of her sonic affluence to carve out a unique space for herself. Manuka has just released a double single, titled Shh… Be Quiet for which she collaborates with Tabla artist, Vishnu Vijayan to add an eastern folk dimension to the mellow swell of her honey vocals.
The track is a gossamer web of melody forming out of glinting strings, wispy vocals, and warmth of eastern percussion. Triangular guitar motifs set the stage for the delicate lines of song, quivering with emotion against a still backdrop. And the sprouting bouquets of tabla beats add an unexpected freshness and soothing dimension to the theme.
Manuka’s musical journey began with her introduction to Indian classical music at the age of 12. She debuted her Indo-western style in 2021 with her track, Tribal Man, and has since added two more songs to her portfolio that further dilate her style and artistry.
The track is available for streaming on popular sites like Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music!
